These 28 stories that take place in the African countries of Ghana, Togo, and Nigeria up to the Middle East, Europe, and America deal with themes such as infatuation, covetousness, social injustice, greediness, survival, and intrigue. The title story, “No Easy Road to Survival”, shows paid youths trying to rig election results in favour of the ruling party; in “Beyond the Forbidden Borders” a Jewish woman struggles to save her marriage to a Palestinian; “Living in Yesterday’s Bliss” shows attempts by an American fashion buff to adjust to the new situation now that her executive husband is unemployed; there is even a horror story featuring a display of African magical powers in America.
