In the first edition of this book, in 1917, St. Manuel stated: “These pages are aimed at exposing, before men of faith and of heart, an evil that I am incapable of naming, for even if I were to use every noxious epithet on earth, I would fail to define it adequately.The abandonment of the Tabernacle! I am firmly convinced that, in practical terms, the worst of all evils and the cause of all evil is the abandonment of Tabernacles, not only in religious matters but also in those concerning moral, social, and familial well-being.The purpose of this book therefore is to speak of that abandonment and to bring its remedy to light.”
